"The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire..."

Summer is FINALLY HERE!!! We have been pretty busy around our house...mostly with projects that we were waiting to do when it got warmer. So our roof was never actually on fire, but it needed to be changed. We had shingles blowing off our roof whenever it would be super windy. We had two layers of shingles on already, so that meant we had to tear the whole thing off and re-shingle. We thought this wouldn't be too hard, so we rented tools and enlisted friends and family for what we thought would be " a few hours of tearing off the old stuff". Not quite how it worked out. We started Friday night at about 6:00 and worked until 10:00 (and by "We" I mean "Blake, Quinn (blake's brother) and Trent (our friend and handyman). Then began again the next morning around 7:00 am. We had tons of help from dad's, brothers in law, friends, and my sister in law Meg. It was amazing to see how hard it was to tear this stuff off. We finally wrapped it up on Saturday around 5:00-6:00 ish. Lots and lots of back breaking work, sunburns and sore muscles. But we got it taken off. Trent layed the new roof right behind us...and we think it turned out AWESOME! The new color really makes a difference and it's nice to know we don't have to do that for at least another 20+ years. :)
I don't know if you can see or not, but the old roof used to be Grey/white, and the new one is Jet Black. Such a difference. :)

Such beauty that only homeowners would understand or care about! What a project! I'm glad it went well!
